Our Commitment
Accessibility Statement
Marshall Stuart Wines is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people who rely on a screen reader, navigate by keyboard alone, or need larger text or stronger color contrast to read comfortably. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a box we check once — this page describes where we stand today and how to reach us if something isn't working for you.
The Standard We Target
We build toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA — the standard most commonly referenced by courts and accessibility guidance in the United States — and we take newer WCAG 2.2 recommendations into account where they apply. We don't claim perfect, permanent conformance to every success criterion; no automated tool or one-time review can promise that, and this site keeps changing as we add new content. What we can commit to is real, ongoing attention rather than a one-time fix.
What We've Actually Done
- Checked and corrected text and background color combinations against WCAG's minimum contrast requirements sitewide, not just spot-checked
- Written meaningful, descriptive alternative text for every photograph, illustration, and historical image on the site
- Structured headings in a consistent, logical order on every page, so the site can be navigated by heading structure alone
- Sized every tappable link and button for comfortable use on a touchscreen, not just a mouse
- Made every interactive element — including our age verification screen — fully operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator at every step
- Built the site to work with your browser's own zoom and text-resize controls, rather than blocking or overriding them
Known Limitations
Wine club sign-up and checkout happen through OrderPort, a third-party platform we don't control the code of directly — we've chosen a mainstream, widely-used provider, but we can't personally guarantee their accessibility the way we can guarantee our own pages. Our background videos are ambient and decorative — they don't convey information that isn't already available in the surrounding text, so we haven't added captions to them, consistent with WCAG's own guidance for video with no essential audio content.
Something Not Working for You?
If you run into a genuine barrier anywhere on this site, we want to know about it specifically — what page, what you were trying to do, and what happened instead. Email liam@marshallstuartwines.com and we'll look into it.
